FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. WILL COUNSELING HELP ME?

Counseling has the potential to help anyone and everyone with a counselor that is nonjudgmental, empathetic, and knowledgable. The better question is... will you allow it to help? The effectiveness of counseling often has to do with your level of openness and honesty, willingness to change, and flexibility in expectations. Of course, there may be times when you just don't have a connection with your therapist- and that is also important to a successful counseling journey!

2. WHAT IF I'M NERVOUS TO SEEK COUNSELING?

That's okay! Being nervous or scared can be a normal reaction to the thought of starting counseling; especially to those that are reserved, private, or going through a really difficult time. As your counselor, I am here to help and encourage you to seek counseling, anyway! Many people find counseling comforting and helpful for improving their lives and well-being. Don't let any negative or fearful thoughts stop you from living your best life!

3. HOW LONG DOES EACH THERAPY SESSION TAKE?

Typically, sessions are around 50 minutes in length. Depending on the situation, your counselor may be able to work with you on adjusting that length.

4. WHAT ARE YOUR RATES?

In order to continue providing the best quality care, I do not accept insurance. Self-pay rates are:

-$100/session for individual and/or family counseling

-$150/session for marriage/couples counseling

*I offer FREE telehealth sessions through Catholic Charities! Reach out and ask about this option today!

*Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to ask about a Good Faith Estimate (this will be included in your intake paperwork).

5. WHAT AGES DO YOU WORK WITH?

I have experience working with all ages, but am currently only accepting those 12 years or older.

6. HOW LONG DOES THE COUNSELING PROCESS TAKE?

This can be different for everyone! Some may only need a few weeks of counseling, while others may need months or years of counseling. This depends on your specific situation, goals, and frequency of appointments. You and your counselor will decide how often to start sessions and as treatment progresses, the frequency in appointments may change. As your counselor, I will periodically check-in with your treatment plans and goals to make sure we stay on track!

7. WHAT IS YOUR THEORETICAL APPROACH TO COUNSELING?

I use an integrative approach to counseling that is personalized for each individual, couple, or family that I see. In other words, instead of using the same approach with all clients, I choose the most effective approach based off of the client's situation or concern.

With that being said, there are a few theories I enjoy integrating the most as they tend to be effective with a larger variety of client populations. Those include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Person-Centered Theory, Reality Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Family Systems Theory.
